The tasks of caring for a loved one are demanding and emotionally taxing.
Just as soon as we feel like we have a grip on things, they can change in a whipstitch.
The uncertainty and complexity of it all can wear you down.
The good news is that God is our constant source of all power. When we try to bear the burden of caregiving alone, it wears us out. I pray you can remain plugged in to the Father as you meet your caregiving obligations.
Below, please find a prayer and a few Bible verses that kept me going and reminded me of God’s limitless energy while I was caring for my grandma.
A Prayer for Caregivers
You can pray this prayer or tell the Heavenly Father whatever is on your heart.
Heavenly Father, thank you for this earthly body and the breath you supply me with. I feel depleted. Restore me to with your everlasting power. Help me to always remember you are my personal, never-ending source of energy. I love you. Amen.
Scripture
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
Psalm 28:7 NIV

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
Psalm 37:39-40 ESV

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Psalm 46:1-3 ESV

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2 NIV

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31 ESV

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NIV

I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.
Isaiah 43:2 HCSB

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
Jeremiah 31:25 ESV

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 ESV

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:11-13 ESV
