Because She Took Care of Me…
I’m Rachel, and I have been caring for my grandma, Barbara, since a fall in the bathroom sent her to the emergency room. What was supposed to be a simple procedure led to a 3-week hospitalization, 3 months (that’s right, a whole season) in rehab, and then 6 more months back and forth from the hospital, rehab, and her home.
Ever since, I’ve been stumbling down the caregiving journey, learning how to balance my responsibilities as her only granddaughter and primary caregiver with my hopes and dreams as a millennial coming of age in today’s world.
